Belhaven Bridge

Location:

At the gateway to Scotland, Woodside offers outstanding 4 Star comfort & stunning coastal scenery close to the capital City of Edinburgh.

On the edge of the John Muir Country Park & historic Dunbar, there are views and walks across Belhaven John Muir statue on Dunbar High StreetBay towards the Bass Rock.

Woodside makes an excellent base for relaxing and touring the delights of the Scottish Borders and the Lothians. Edinburgh is only a 20 minute train ride away with no driving, parking or road hassles. But if you wish to drive, the recently opened A1 expressway will take you to the city centre in about 30 to 40 minutes.

Easily accessed from the main A1 road, Belhaven is a 17th century village, famous for the brewing of Belhaven Beer and Dunbar is famous as the birth place of the world famous conservationist - John Muir.

Winterfield Golf Club
With 2 golf courses in Dunbar and many other courses in East Lothian, the golfer is well catered for.
Other popular attractions in the area are visits to castles, bird watching, walking and sub-aqua diving, windsurfing, traction kiting, and kitesurfing.


We can help you plan your day for local events and places of interest...some other examples include the magnificent Tantallon Castle, Glenkinchie Whisky Distillery & North Berwick Scottish Seabird Centre   with boat trips around the Bass Rock or why not visit the new Concorde experience at the Scottish Museum of Flight . In August the world famous Edinburgh Festival and Military Tattoo.

Edinburgh is only a 40 minute drive, or 20 minute train journey away.

Ferries dock at Rosyth, Newcastle and Hull.

Edinburgh 26 miles.
Edinburgh Airport 45 minutes driving.
Newcastle Ferry - 2 hours
Hull Ferry - 4 hours
Rosyth Ferry - 1 hour.

London is accessible by train, National Express East Coast( Kings Cross 4 hours) and CrossCountry Trains.

Maggie and Tony Packwood take pleasure and pride in giving a warm welcome of Four Star comfort & hospitality in their bungalow home by the sea.

Open from March ( Easter ) to September, all three bedrooms have private facilities.
One double bedded room with its own en-suite shower & w.c. faces the garden and views to the sea.
A second double bedded room also facing the garden and sea has its own private shower room and w.c. The third bedroom has twin beds and it's own bathroom and w.c..

Each room has central heating, electric blankets, radio, hospitality tray with tea, coffee and biscuits. There are also hair dryers and information books on the local area and where to eat.

Our guest lounge with big picture windows to the garden and sea has TV and videos for relaxation as well as many books on local history, golf and touring routes.

Guests can sit here and relax in comfort or choose to sit out on the patio having a cool drink or a sundowner, or even an alfresco supper watching the sunset over the bay.

There are many extras such as off-street parking, secure storage for golf clubs and motorbikes, internet access and also drying facilities - if you need an iron - or have any other requests - just ask and we wil try to help.

Dinning room

Breakfast is taken in our congenial breakfast room, which looks onto the garden. There you have the opportunity to confer with other guests about your holiday experiences and sample our delicious breakfast options.

Our breakfast choices are cooked from local produce and offer a flavour of Scotland, whilst our Breads, Jams and Marmalade are home made.

You can select your choice from:
porridge, cereals, fresh fruits, yoghurt
then... bacon,sausage,sliced haggis, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs and "tattie" scones.

But maybe you'll prefer local Eyemouth Smoked Haddock fish with a poached egg, or Eyemouth Smoked kipper fillets?

Vegetarian options are also available.

These are all served with ordinary or decaffeinated filter coffee, traditional tea or fruit teas, plus a selection of rolls, toast or bread.

For evening meals, there is a cosy pub in Belhaven - (5 minutes away ).

Or you could walk along the cliff top trail into Dunbar for further choices of places to eat. Find more places to eat in the local Dunbar Directory .

Bed & Breakfast from £28 to £35 per person per night, sharing a double room.
Single occupancy of a double/twin room £35 to £50.

We are now  able  to accept payment in Euros.

We do not normally accept children under the age of 7 years.

We regret that we are unable to accommodate dogs.

There is a No Smoking policy in the house.

Reservation Procedure & Cancellation Policy:

To reserve a room, we require a deposit of £25 per room, in the form of a personal cheque in pounds sterling or euros or by Credit Card - Visa or Mastercard only.

The remaining balance due may be paid in cash in pounds sterling or euros, by personal cheque or by Debit/Credit Card - Visa or MasterCard..

If any payments are made by Credit card - please note that we have to pass onto the customer the 2% commission our bank charges on the total amount payable.

Making a booking, either verbally, by e-mail or in writing is a legal contract, which both parties must honour.

If, for whatever reason, you need to cancel your booking, then we would be grateful for as much notice as possible.

Any advance deposit paid will only be refunded if the accommodation is re-let and may be subject to charges for postage and expenses.

We will charge the first night accommodation if you cancel your booking less then 48 hours before arrival unless we can re-let the room.

We will charge the whole amount due in the event of a "non arrival"
